"Brain and Mind: Innovate, Integrate, Inspire" week long conference is held to launch the National Neuroscience Facility. The premises were officially opened by The Hon John Brumby, August 16th.

7th August 2003 The Hon Peter McGauran, Australian Minister for Science, launched the National Neuroscience Facility.

30th June 2003 Fit-out of NNF Headquarters completed at Levels 2 & 3, 161 Barry Street, Carlton South, Victoria.

26th & 27th June 2003 2nd Annual Schering/NSV Scientific Symposium held in Berlin, Germany.

22nd June 2003 NSV CEO Assoc Prof William Hart speaks on the subject of "Doing Business Globally" as an international panelist at BIO2003 in Washington DC.

23rd May 2003 Centre for Eye Research Australia (CERA) becomes our newest NSV member.

24th April 2003 Neurological Health Agreement signed with CSIRO as part of the "Flagships" program.

25th October 2002 The Hon Peter McGauran, Commonwealth Minister for Science visits NSV and NSA.

12th August 2002 Agreement with Nissho Iwai Corp (Tokyo) signed.

June 2002 NSV enters into major research collaboration agreement with Schering AG.

April 2002 Brain Research Institute and Mental Health Research Institute accepted as new members of NSV.

Late 2001/ early 2002 Operational Technology Platforms, Research Programs and Projects.

20th August 2001 Announcement of success in obtaining Major National Research Facility funds - $22.5 million.

16th July 2001 Neurosciences Victoria launched by the Premier of Victoria.

Mid 2001 Nodal Managers and central coordinating staff join NSV.

February 2001 Associate Professor William Hart appointed as CEO of Neurosciences Victoria.

November 2000 Announcement of success in obtaining Science, Technology and Innovation Funds - $13.34 million.

September 2000 Formal incorporation of Neurosciences Victoria as a company limited by guarantee. The founding members are Monash University, The University of Melbourne, Howard Florey Institute of Experimental Physiology and the National Stroke Research Institute.

During 2000 Working towards establishing a Neurosciences Consortium.

Late 1999 The idea for NSV was conceived via discussions between a leading neurologist and a leading public health expert.
